B. It's not that they are Americans, it's that he is an extremely clever hypnotist. I think that it doesn't matter what country they're from, rather their own mental make-up. And his delivery and timing of "Take it, take it, its fine" and so on.

one trick these guys use is called, pattern interrupt. someone just going on with their routine day in a and day out then suddenly getting interrupted by this guy and his constant babble let down their filters and Derren can go straight to their subconscious mind. The subconscious mind complies and BAM! the street vendor has to be more on his toes and be more alert than the dudes in the quiet stores.

Its NLP, at each conversation with the cashier, he ends it by saying "take it, take it, it's okay". Thats how he "tricks" them.

Thank you, mr states the fucking obvious... i hate it when people comment saying thing that are in total plane view to everybody but for some reason they think for some special fucking reason they are individual and the only person to see it. You'd get into trouble because as you can see it doesn't work EVERY time, I am glad they left that in actually, it sort of affirms that it works by showing that it can fail.
