| aA flat is when you go 1 half step back. For example E-flat would be the note between D and E. A sharp is when you go 1 half step forward. So the note between D and E could also be D-sharp. How you are eventually going to call it depends on the key of the song. |

| "Flat" is a musical term. It basically means 1/2 step below. It's the next note down. Alternatively, a sharp is 1/2 step up. So if it's A# (# means "sharp"), then it's 1/2 step up from A. |
